A New Flower Powerhouse: CBD Hash

By now, most of us CBD enthusiasts have experimented with CBD edibles, tinctures, topicals, vape oils and so on.  But, as we know, the industry is still new, and is evolving at a very rapid pace.  More hemp products are hitting the market than ever before, with each promising to deliver an experience that’s highly unique from the rest.

Today, we’re gonna be talking about CBD hash.  Yes, you read that right.  Most of us associate hash with hemp’s psychoactive cousin, marijuana, that happens to be illegal on a federal level.  But, don’t fear – as long as hash is made from industrial hemp rather than marijuana, it’s perfectly legal to consume and non-psychoactive, just like the other CBD products that you keep in rotation.

So, allow us to explain it thoroughly so that you can decide whether or not it’s something you’d like to incorporate in your routine.

What is CBD Hash?

If you’re familiar with hash, you already have a pretty good idea of what CBD hash is.  CBD hash, or hashish as it’s sometimes referred to, is essentially the concentrated essential oil of the industrial hemp plant.  It contains a very potent level of the compounds that make hemp so unique.  The female hemp plant is rich in a wide range of compounds including cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes, which each serve a unique purpose and provide the entourage effect when consumed together, meaning that each compound maximizes the effects of the others.

CBD hash looks like a solid, dark substance.  What it is, in all actuality, is a resin.  It’s made from the trichomes of the female cannabis plant, which are the resin glands.  Another thing that makes hash unique is that it contains some plant material, while products made with hemp extracts, such as tinctures, vape oils and edibles, do not.  It can be consumed in a number of ways, which we will be getting into shortly.

How is CBD Hash Created?

CBD hash starts with the hemp plant.  The hemp plant is cultivated in an environment in which it won’t absorb any environmental toxins, as this plant absorbs surrounding elements very easily.  Then, once it has matured, it’s removed from the ground.

Now, the trichomes of the hemp plant are removed.  Normally, when we talk about CBD products, we’re referring to an extract that is made using the buds.  However, these resin glands, known as trichomes, exist within and around the buds, leaves and stems, meaning that the resin is derived from parts of the plant which are commonly discarded.  They are frequently discarded because they contain lower amounts of the desired compounds, but when they are concentrated into a thick, waxy resin substance, we end up with a highly potent waxy substance with a wide variety of unique hemp compounds.

The biggest question: how is the hash made from the plant material?  Well, it’s simply a matter of removing the waxy, sticky resin-like substance that naturally forms along the plant.  This is a tedious process, although technology has given us ways to make it faster.  When enough resin is collected, it’s typically pressed into a brick.

What Forms Does CBD Hash Come in?

These days, CBD hash comes in a few different forms: hard form, oil form and current form.  The current form is essentially the resulting product after the resin has been collected from the hemp plant and pressed together.  It’s sticky, waxy and pliable.  Then, hard form refers to resin that has been pressed using a device that creates a more solid brick.  Lastly, we have oil form, which is the resin that has been converted into an oil with a thinner consistency.  Each form allows for a different method of administration.

Is CBD Hash Flavored?

CBD hash has its own unique flavor, which, as you would imagine, tastes like cannabis.  This is because of the terpenes that naturally exist within the plant, as well as the flavonoids that add to its natural flavor.  However, CBD hash can be flavored with additional flavoring ingredients that are combined with the hash itself.  Typically, these are highly concentrated oils that don’t do much to interfere with the natural consistency of hash.

How is CBD Hash Consumed?

CBD hash can be consumed in a few different ways.  It can be consumed in a bong, which is a large pipe that utilizes water to cool down the smoke, allowing for smoother and more pleasant inhales.  It can also be smoked in a standard pipe, which is a small, handheld piece that has a bowl in which the hash is placed.  Both of these methods involve lighting the hash so that it can be turned into smoke.

Then, we have vaping devices.  Vaping is a relatively new method as today’s vaporizers are smaller, more affordable and more advanced than ever before.  We now have vaporizers that contain chambers into which you can insert your hash. Then, using the power of electricity, this hash is heated and converted into a vapor that’s smooth on the inhale.

How Can You Find Quality CBD Hash?

If you wish to try out CBD hash, it’s important that you seek out a trustworthy company that produces quality products.  You must use the same methods you’d use when choosing any other type of CBD product that’s on the market.  First, make sure you’re educated enough on the subject to know what to look for.  Then, look for lab results from a manufacturer as these confirm that the hemp is legitimate, and that it’s pure, potent and high in quality.
